| Capture a God Avatar: The Last Airbender PG Slight Zukko/Aang. I...don't write Avatar slash. But I did. I don't write AVATAR. But I did. AU. Short.
For 15minuteficlets' challenge:
In another 10 hours (less than a day, less than a day to go) he'd regain his birthright. He'd regain his title, his name, his place in the universe and everything...would be right in the world. Everything.
(Zuko never forgot the irony of capturing the Avatar; promising to save (and he had) the two Watertribe allies in return for the boy's cooperation, the price of caring for the welfare of others weaker was always the loss of one's own).
From the ship's stern he could smell the smoke of the Fire Nation's forges, its many factories. Most of those forges were building weapons, tanks and armor against the Earth Nation. Once, he'd enjoyed the smell of smoke, had been comforted by it like the ticking of a clock, but now it...
It did nothing.
(It'd taken the boy (Aang, memory remembered) several days to adapt on the ship, several more days to adapt to the crew. Iroh had won the Avatar over surprisingly fast, but Zuko hadn't been surprised; Iroh could win over a acid-spitting five-headed monster, winning over one lonely bald 14 year old god was hardly a challenge. All Iroh had to do was beat the boy in Pai Shao, and never let him win.)
The hairs on the back of his neck rose; Zuko ignored it. In a few days, it would all be right. Everything would be...right.
Iroh and the Avatar were the only ones brave enough to confront him when he was moody. Fingers not his own tapped idly on the railing a few feet down from him. He ignored it.
(He'd watched Iroh teach the boy (Aang) Fire-bending. That had been painful. Like watching his own training replayed. Watching the boy watch him had been...equally strange. He'd captured a God, and that god liked to play. And watch him. And talk. And hang off the railing in a storm, laughing with the lightening while the rest of the crew went wild battening the hatches and keeping the vessel safe.)
"So."
Zuko ignored it.
Iroh and the Avatar (Aang) were the only ones brave enough to spar with him.
"I guess...you're glad to be going back."
The Avatar was the only one brave (suicidal, crazy) enough to treat him as an equal.
Zuko ignored it.
He'd captured a God, and all it had cost him was two years, toil, tear, and the loss of...something.
"No. Not really." ***

| | *paws* ne ne Gelf... what´s Avatar? *because she´s trying to understand this* | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| Avatar’s not an anime, is a REALLY REALLY beautiful art, excellent story, and has almost not fanbase. Whatsoever. Um…Rin did some work for it, but not much. Er…and lately, it’s grabbed me, and hasn’t let go, and I actually don’t KNOW if they show it in Spain. Um, lemme get a good website to look at stuff:
…Or I would if my computer didn’t keep dying every time I tried. Um. You can do a search for it, and a bunch of stuff comes up, it’s mostly series-summaries and stuff, because it has NO FANBASE.
And the story goes: Some people can use 1 of the 4 elements as weapons, tools, yadda. The Avatar could use ALL elements, and kept the world from killing each other. The Fire people attacked everyone else and declared war, the Avatar disappeared without anyone really knowing why, then turned up 100 years later, and now the Fire Nation’s going MAD trying to find the guy who can beat them back. Oh, and the Avatar is like a job/spirit that reincarnates in people, so he sort of REMEMBERS his past-lives, and he kind of doesn’t. The body he’s reincarnated in now is a 12 year old boy named Aang.
Zukko is the son of the Fire Lord, and he got his father pissed at him and was told he would lose his right to the throne if he didn’t find the Avatar and bring him back to the Fire Nation. Zukko’s not actually bad, but he is scary and dark and intense and vaguely neurotic, really obsessive and really hot tempered. Really ugly, ugly scar. Aang’s sort of a slacker, really nice, just a little sarcastic, REALLY lost, and has a crush on one of the two Water People he’s traveling with, and she treats him like a little brother because he is about 3 years younger than her. Aang’s bald.

| Oh yeah, and it's a Nickelodeon show, like Invader Zim. Actually, one of the guys who worked on IZ created it. And...made it nicer and with plot.
SOO GOOD. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | hehehe I´m doing my research on it now... feeery nice artwork indeed. I´d like to see the animation tho!! I guess if one of the national channels here licensed it... ^^;; Or if I got my parents to install the cable ;__; Or I could get someone to record it... ^^;;; geee. It seems like a cool story! | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Yeah...um, do you have bitorrent? Because I know people are downloading it off the internet (I'm not sure where, but I'm pretty sure I can ask or trace it). It IS a cool story. Um...lemme try asking, ok? I'll get back to when I have stuff.. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | *nods* yeah I use bitorrent at home ^^ I´ll ask you when I arrive there! | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| AHHHH AVATAR. I never would have suspected! That last line KILLS ME DEAD; I love the use of parenthesis and the sections on Iroh and Aang. It's hard for me to take Zuko seriously because he's so outrageously tragic, but the paragraph about the the Fire Nation's factories was moving nonetheless.
AHHHHHH AVATAR. (Okay, I'm done.) | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | Yeesss...Avatar. Somehow, somewhere, it captured me and it hasn't let go yet. And Zuko IS tragic, but he's also scary too; and...strangely fascinating. Had so much fun with it...is there an Avatar Icon comm I can mooch off of? I...like this series, so much all of sudden. So GOOD. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| IT IS GOOD. Funny, well-drawn, and you can very easily imagine it sooo much darker.
Icon comm is avatar_icons. You could also try the main comm since 60% of it is icons (the other 40% is stupidity). avatar_fans, only those who love to scroll need apply.
(I did a whooooole lot of icon bases here, but. You have to scroll through a lot of text to get to them XD.)
You want, like, fanfic/art recs as well? | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
Ok, that was a badly spelled word, but YES. I mooch off Avatar icons already, but, I SERIOUSLY have not been able to find any fics or art for it, besides suzukiblu's stuff. No art to SPEAK of; I tried going to Nick's official site 2, and had to reboot my computer 4 times and clean out the disk. So I won't be trying that again...my computer's weak. Plus there's the dial-up.
Going to steal your icon bases. And check out Avatarfans; I wasn't sure where the main fanbase was located at. Will check out! And mooch! | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Memlu's stuff ROCKS. I ate it all. So very GOOD.
I stole so much of Pally Pally's stuff; some of it was privacy locked, but I stole...just about everything that was available. And you know what was weird? She read my KakaSasu thing; WEIRD. Still need to check out potato's list; longer things ARE good.
...I stand by my earlier claim that you know where EVERYTHING is. Everything. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| UNTRUE. I'm just fandom-unfaithful: I get around.
And so, apparently, does your fanfiction. XDDDDDD pally_pally does Naruto comics too, although I met her through Hunter x Hunter. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Cool...I need to look at her stuff. But so much of it is friends' locked. Argh! Still, good stuff :D | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Umm...you wouldn't happen to know where I can get bitorrents of the episodes, would you? Or if they're even online? | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Whoa...that IS...whoa. See? This is why I say you know where everything is. Because you know where everything is. Whoa.
Do you have links for the manga though? I read manga more than anime, and those files are just...HUGE. I already know my computer would flop over and never get up; he's a wimp. Been meaning to check out HxH though; by the same guy who made Yu Yu! | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| Gelf. You can do no wrong. I hope you know that.
Beautiful, short, to the point but at the same time vaguely wondering.
You, my internet friend, are amazing. But I'm sure you already knew that.
*loves all over* | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| I can do plenty wrong; you shouldn't tell me that, because when I do do wrong, it comes out so HORRIBLE and I can't even tell. It's that horrible.
I think...I've fallen in love with Avatar. One of the few (or many) beautiful involved series that has almost NO fanbase. Sadness. SO MUCH SADNESS. I go to find art and steal now. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is a strange, strange show. Half the time it feels like an anime dubbed over to America, other times it's... something else. This is good, though. | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | It IS a strange show; and strangely, it never hit me as anime. Never. I mean, yeah it's an Asian setting, but it never felt like anime to me, in art or story-wise. It is something else though. It grabbed me for a few brief seconds, and just wouldn't let go. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | When I said anime, I was just thinking of the dubbed voices, actually, because Zukko is so angsty, and his voice so doesn't sound right for his character, and it just reminds me of all the badly dubbed animes out there... but I digress. That's the only way it really reminds me of an anime, not the story or anything. I've actually only seen about five episodes, but it's interesting. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | It struck me at first as an anime just because of setting, but that stopped after the first two or three episodes. Actually, it kind of reminds me of Samurai Jack, only funnier with more constant characters, and hopefully won't die after 2 seasons. But for a TV cartoon, it's REALLY broad and sweeping; very ambitious. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
